We’ll be there with our food truck to serve delicious BBQ and feed the hungry fishermen and visitors. This is the “official” beginning of summer and what better way to welcome summer than with BBQ and a good time fishing. \nThe Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener\, a Minnesota tradition since 1948\, was established to bolster the state’s economy by promoting recreational opportunities\, particularly fishing. Initially\, this event was a collaborative effort among the resort industry\, media\, and public officials. Today\, it has come to signify the commencement of the summer tourism and barbecue season. This remarkable partnership persists by highlighting a host community and promoting recreational opportunities statewide. This year\, the host community is our own Lake City on beautiful Lake Pepin! \nNestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Pepin\, Lake City serves as a testament to Minnesota’s exceptional angling experiences. With a diverse population of 85 fish species\, Lake Pepin has earned its reputation as a premier sport fishing destination within the state. Anglers from various regions flock to this scenic area renowned for its abundant walleye\, sauger\, pike\, perch\, and white bass. This event further underscores Lake City’s position as one of the Midwest’s finest locales for fishing enthusiasts\, offering a platform to showcase the city’s natural beauty\, the diverse fish species of Lake Pepin\, and the warm hospitality of its residents. Come find us at Ohuta Beach\, we’re serving BBQ from 4-8pm on Friday\, May 10th.
